Working from home has become the new norm for many, with a 2023 survey revealing that 40% of UK employees now work remotely at least part of the time. While the flexibility and comfort of home working are undeniable perks, it also comes with its own set of challenges for maintaining overall well-being. If you are able, a designated area for work can help set boundaries between your professional and personal life. Ideally, a quiet space with minimal distractions. Access to comfortable furniture, like a good chair and desk, can help prevent physical strain.
2. Movement is important
Sitting for prolonged periods can lead to health issues such as back pain and poor posture. Aim to stand up and move around for at least five minutes every hour. If you have access to one, consider trying out a standing desk or taking short, active breaks – stretch, do a quick workout, or even a bit of housework.
3. Healthy snacks and lunch
With the kitchen just steps away, it’s easy to snack. Where possible, try to include healthy options like fruits, nuts, and whole grains. Staying hydrated is also crucial; keep a water bottle on your desk as a reminder to drink regularly.
